Gonda DM Reviews Revenue Collection, Departmental Performance; Warns Officials Over Pending Cases and IGRS Complaints

Gonda: District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan chaired a review meeting at the Collectorate auditorium to assess tax and non-tax revenue collection, revenue-related matters and the performance of various departments. Senior district-level officials from the concerned departments attended the meeting.

During the review of tax and non-tax revenue collection, the District Magistrate directed officials to ensure that departmental targets fixed by the government are achieved within the stipulated period. She warned that failure to meet the prescribed targets would invite action against the responsible departmental officials.

The District Magistrate also reviewed the status of pending cases in revenue courts. She directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars to prioritise cases that have remained pending for between three and five years. Officials were instructed to hear both parties in accordance with the rules and dispose of as many old cases as possible. She stressed that no negligence would be tolerated in the disposal of long-pending matters.

The meeting also reviewed complaints received through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) portal. Expressing displeasure over the absence of the Assistant Registrar (Cooperative) without prior information, the District Magistrate directed that the official’s salary be withheld.

The District Magistrate took serious note of a complaint becoming a defaulter on the IGRS portal in Nagar Panchayat Mankapur and directed that a show-cause notice be issued to the Executive Officer concerned. The Executive Officer of Dhanepur Nagar Panchayat was also issued a stern warning and directed to ensure that feedback on IGRS complaints is accurate and satisfactory. The District Magistrate said that failure to improve the quality of feedback would result in action.

Issuing strict directions regarding complaints handled by revenue officials, Niranjan said that if an IGRS complaint assigned to any Lekhpal becomes a defaulter, suspension proceedings would be initiated against the concerned official.

She further directed all departmental officers to ensure timely and quality disposal of complaints received through the IGRS portal. If a complaint becomes a defaulter due to delay or if the feedback received from the complainant is unsatisfactory, departmental action will be taken against the responsible officer.

The District Magistrate made it clear that negligence or laxity in handling public grievances would not be tolerated. Officials were instructed to closely monitor complaints, ensure their disposal within the prescribed timelines and maintain the quality of resolution.

The meeting was attended by Chief Revenue Officer Rinki Jaiswal, Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Mankapur and Tarabganj, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrates Ashok Kumar Gupta, Brijesh Kumar and Vineet Kumar, the Tehsildar of Tarabganj, the officiating Tehsildar of Mankapur and other district-level officials from the concerned departments.
